十二年國教基本總綱強調兒童的「自發」、「互動」及「共好」的基本能力，強調其感受與體驗環境能力之培養，認知與技能的要求則為第二目標。本教案設計也根據體驗→省思→實踐的流程，首先透過實境，引發動機。用科技媒材結合生活情境，建立水足跡的概念，再藉由影片與遊戲的方式讓節約用水的概念轉化為實際生活可實踐的行為。
