當通電線圈靠近指北針時，線圈上標示的S極竟然會排斥指北針的N極！其實當電池正負極相反時，就會讓線圈裡的電流方向及磁力方向相反，而看到磁極方向改變的情況。學生除了在實驗中可以觀察到以上的現象，更能透過實驗動畫，從電池正負極的方向開始逐步推導電流方向、磁力方向與具體的指針方向之間的因果關係，幫助學生建構出電產生磁的模型。＊實驗開始時才接通電路；觀察到通電時指北針偏轉現象時，請立即斷電，以免短路造成危險。
