章魚被認為是高智力的無脊椎動物，也被認為可能具有觀察學習的能力。能夠運用變色偽裝來伺機獵食或者躲避敵人，遇到危險時能夠噴出墨汁擾亂敵人伺機逃走，柔軟的身體也能迅速躲藏至礁石岩縫之間。

珊瑚礁海中最美麗的一群魚蝴蝶通常是色彩美麗的代名詞，顧名思義「蝴蝶魚」大家也就知道意思了早年的魚類分類學，蓋刺魚本來也在蝴蝶魚科(Chaetodontidae)裡，後來獨立出來成為蓋刺魚科(Pomacanthidae)。會稱為「蓋刺魚」是因為牠們的前鰓蓋骨有一枚向後的尖銳硬棘。不過不管如何，蝴蝶魚(Butterflyfish)和蓋刺魚(Angelfish)都是珊瑚礁海域最美麗的一群魚！
