2016-06-12Logan, OhioIn late spring 2016, seventeen-year cicadas emerged in a section of the United States that includes eastern Ohio. The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar.This recording was made outside a residence in Logan, Ohio. The sounds of the cicadas are occasionally interrupted by passing vehicles.
