The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar.This recording was made near Old Man's Cave in Hocking Hills State Park. Although there are tourists everywhere, you can also hear a lot of M. cassini calling.
