This is a drum recording made in a a neighborhood just north of Mumbai, India called Khar. The music was for a festival celebrating the Hindu god Ganesha - or as he is known in Khar - Ganpati.

22.03.2016: around 1.00 p.m. at the Oskar Kolberg Institute in Poznań (Poland). The jubelee of 90 birthday of professor Bogusław Linette (musicologist and ethnographer). Paricipants of the event are singing two traditional Polish songs - "Sto lat" and "Niech mu gwiazdka pomyślności". "Sto lat" (One Hundred Years) is a traditional Polish song that is sung to express good wishes, good health and long life to a person. It is also a common way of wishing someone a happy birthday in Polish. The song's author and exact origin are unattributed. The song is sung both at informal gatherings (such as birthdays or name days) or at formal events, such as weddings. Frequently, the song "Niech im gwiazdka pomyślności" will be sung afterwards, excluding kids' parties, as the song makes reference to alcohol consumption. The song serves the equivalent function of "Happy Birthday To You" or "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow".lYRICS: Sto lat, sto lat, Niech żyje, żyje nam. This recording was taken from a pew as an abbey organ was being tuned. I've tried to take a part of the recording with few visitor voices but some are inevitable. I've also uploaded quite a long section as there are subtle harmonics and I thought maybe small sections could be used as samples. The recording was made in mono on a Sony ICD-BX112.If you use the sound, please comment about what you've done. I'd be excited to hear someone has found a use for it!
