讀書時姚仁喜對電影特別感興趣，他說：「電影有兩個要素很吸引我，一個是鏡頭一個是時間，隨著影像流轉一幕幕場景就成了連續性的空間，而我們說的空間經驗，其實就是走在建築裡所經歷的過程」。而他覺得建築師跟導演的差異就在於導演的工作是創造故事，建築師則是設計一個場景，等待著未來的故事發生。
