Stream sounds recorded in Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California, at Berry Creek just above the main fall. 27 January, 2016.Given the recent rainfall, the creeks were rather active.Recording setup was ORTF, positioned at the edge of the streams, using two Sennheiser MKH8040s, into a Roland R-26 recorder. High frequencies have been boosted to compensate for the windshields used.

2016-06-12Logan, OhioIn late spring 2016, seventeen-year cicadas emerged in a section of the United States that includes eastern Ohio. The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar.This recording was made outside a residence in Logan, Ohio. The sounds of the cicadas are occasionally interrupted by passing vehicles. Both M. septendecim and M. cassini calls can be heard (See http://www.cicadamania.com/audio/.)Sound recorded using the built-in mic on an iPhone 5.
