Playing with the remote for my 21-year-old Sanyo color CRT TV and the one for the DirecTV box which is set to talk to the Sanyo with volume control and on & off. I finally got them both pointed at the light probe giving light at similar levels, and managed to press buttons on all 3 at the same time.
