綠色化學是指在進行商品製造時，需要設計出友善環境、注重人體安全時，也能兼顧生產的效益。綠色化學之父 John C. Warner 在他出版的綠色化學書——《綠色化學：理論與實踐》歸納出綠色化學十二項原則，讓生產者能在製造商品時借著這些原則來製造出安全及環保的產品。
