Holding the Colorino against and moving it around the opening on the bottom of my laser mouse. When the mouse detects movement the laser switches on for a second until the movement stops. When there's no movement, there seems to be an LED light on as part of a motion sensor monitoring for movement. That light has some very interesting modulation. The laser itself gives a pure unmodulated tone. It seems to have no attack or fade. It never occurred to me before I tried this that that's how these mice worked.
The Colorino Talking Color Identifier and Light Probe produces a tone when you hold down the light probe button. It's a pocket sized 2-in-1 unit, which is a Color Identifier/Light Detector for the blind and colorblind. The stronger the light source, the higher the pitch. The more light it receives, the higher the pitch. So you can vary the pitch by moving and turning it.
