River Waal at Nijmegen in the Netherlands. With 600 ships in 24 hours, the busiest river in Europe. The humming of all the passing ships fighting upstream is impressive. I stand in the floodplain at village Lent, opposite the city of Nijmegen. A friendly small beach here. On my right the railway bridge. Behind the bridge rises a new building on the 'Handelskade' '. The weather is calm, but shipping ensures constant waves. If you did not know better you find yourself in a huge metropolis. You would think that all these activities would produce a chaotic audio recording. However, small details give peace and kindness. Much pleasure in listening.
