The design is based on the structure of an atom. This is because everything is made up of matter and an atom is the smallest constituent unit of ordinary matter. This is similar to how the internet of things is a network of physical objects that is expanding and becoming more prominent. All atoms have a nucleus that is the main part of the entire atom. The electrons then surround the nucleus. For this design, the object in the middle in a laptop which is supposed to represent the heart of all machine-to-machine communication. The other items around the laptop are interconnected. Although words were not encouraged, I felt that they complemented the graphic and thus were included.
